Welcome to this crazy little GK loving group!  Take a minute, introduce yourself and tell us how you became acquainted with Generation Kill!

I'm Deanne.  My friend Char introduced me to GK when I went to visit her last year and I can't thank her enough for it.  7 hours of GK packed into a 2 day visit...amazing.

I've been fascinated by the history of the USMC for a long time.  I've heard of GK the book but have not picked it up until I finished watching the mini-series.  I cannot praise either medium enough.  It's just so darn good.

Because of the mini-series, I was introduced to Stark Sands (whom I love), Pawel Szajda, and Jon Huertas (see avatar).  And the rest of the awesome GK cast.  And of course, can't forget the real!Marines: Brad Colbert, Nate Fick (!!!), Jeff Carizales, Kocher, and Mr Apocalypse Man himself, Rudy Reyes.  Hey, I like Tony Espera a lot too.

I really loved the movie and book Jarhead, and I was a fan of Alexander Skarsgard so Generation Kill just seemed to intrest me and I ended up loving the entire serise.

the serise indroduced me to alot of new amazing actors like Pj Ransone, Jon Huertas (who i love in castle now!) and Stark Sands.

My name is Marlaine and I'm a GK-aholic.

My first episode was 'A Burning Dog' and its still my fav. My bf convinced me to stay up late enough to watch this great show that he'd been watching after I went to bed. I was instantly hooked. I had to go buy the box set so I could watch it from the start.

I am also a huge fan of Wright's novel. I couldn't put it down. I'm thinking round two will come soon.

I came to watch GK because I kept hearing people talk about it, so I said what the heck. And I didn't really expect to like it as much as I do now. I actually used to not like marines and one of my friends is (well was now that she is married to one, who likes the show also) obsessed with them, and I just used to say ugh all the time, she has even started watching the show. lol but after watching its opened up a whole new perspective. And also my brother is going to go be a marine once he gets out of school. The army tried to recruit him but I taught him "Army? Fuck that" lol.

So anyways, I love the show and loved Wrights novel. When I got the show I stayed up all night watching it, it took me between 9pm to 5am, and it was well worth it.

Also, the amazing actors in GK Love them.

Well I was late to the GK game.  I started watching True Blood in at the beginning of its second season.  Enter Eric Northman.  Holy mother of GAWD I was hooked on this man! I met some like minded people on myspace who recommended I watch GenKill.  The rest, as they say is history.

Gawd Bless Generation Kill & True Blood!!    (Hey Man--even Skarsgard laughed at that one!)

Hey, I'm Elisabeth from Barcelona, Spain. 19

First I knew about TrueBlood and I loved it. Then I discovered other shows that I knew were airing here a long time ago, that were very popular, but I hadn't known they were from HBO. I don't know how I knew about Generation Kill, but I recognized Mr.Skarsgard and Lee Tergessen, so I started watching it online again and again...

Just as my girl Beth I entered the GK world after researching on Alex's career. I'd seen a couple of eps before but never really paid complete attention to the mini-series. Now I'm so hooked on it I watch it as much as I can :)

Hi everybody,

I'm Caroline, 23 from France.

I started to watch GK when I was into True Blood (I still am), because I like Alex Skarsgård. Then the series has been bought by french TV and translated. I liked it. unfortunately it's impossible to find it in France, though you can buy True Blood and The Pacific. Anyway, when I was in Paris for university, I ordered Nate Fick's 'One Bullet Away', and Rudy's 'Hero Living'.

When I was on a trip in England with some people of my town, I found it in England. it was on our way back. I remember because, they were watching Die Hard 4 but I couldn't stop reading it. Then I bought "The Pacific" stories, Sledge's and Leckie's books.

And then, I read it over and over again. And my preferences grew up to be, Brad Colbert, and Rudy Reyes.

The fact that I like the Marine Corps, is driving my parents crazy. But in France, we don't hear much about the Marines, like if they don't exist. But at least I found crazy people as they call them. Crazy people, yes, but who like GK, and support Marines and Actors.

This is my little story.

Hi everybody,

I'm from New Zealand, I watched the TV series like Rebecca from NZ, I don't usually read much but went onto to read the GK book as I wanted to know how much was truthful to the book.

GK helped me to understand something from my Grandfather who fought in WW2. Why he never spoke about it. Along with why when he didn't live in their pockets of those he served with, whenever they met it was like no time had passed. I know get it.

Well, that's about it really.

I found out about GK because TrueBlood, doing some reseach on the actors an actresses of the show. I'm from Brazil, and I don't believe it has been  here, broadcasted but I've downloaded all the episodes, and from time to time I watch it all over again. My favorite characters would be Brad Colbert and Lt Nate Fick nad Trombley...Any ways, I love the show!

I just joined after finding you on Twitter.  Twitter is so shallow, not that it's bad.  This is so in depth.  What a great site and forum.  I'm going through the interviews, and posting charities to friends with holidays coming up and losing my job as a teacher.  The little I have should go where it's meaningful to many.  Anyway, I pretty much am a huge fan of writer, Evan Wright.  Also, ALL the actors who were in Generation Kill AND the guys they played.  And fellow "insiders," though I'm new to this.  Hi. and thanks!  What I say about myself is this: I believe Generation Kill, by Evan Wright, and other accounts of war, such as American Caesar, a bio of GeneralMacArthur, provide a record of how peace and democracy are hard won andunder threat by people who are racist, elitist, ignorant, and crazy --doesn't matter what their political party or nationality is.  We haveto protect democracy through freedom of speech and for civiliians tolove not judge the soldiers of democracy and the families and friendswho sacrifice with them for us.  Obviously, I'm not a soldier.  I'm afan of Evan Wright and all the Marines and the heroic citiziens of Iraqwho sought peace not war and the actors who carried the message.  Bigfan of James Ransone!!!  And Skarsgard of course, but wish all theactors had gotten jobs on True Blood.  They all deserve public successand probably a bigger paycheck for their rare service also to peace.  PS my profile picture is taken from a sign posted on a tree on the island where the youth party kids were massacred by a cold blooded racist.  The sign has a poem about peace.  I can't read Norwegian, but someone translated it for me.  Sorry so long an introduction.  Am telling friends about site.  I am not on facebook.  Guess I should be!
